Ekadashi Tithi has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. Every Ekadashi is considered best for the worship of Lord Vishnu. Vijaya Ekadashi, which falls in the Shukla Paksha of the month of Falgun, is considered to provide victory and success in life as per its name. Fasting on this day destroys all sins and the seeker attains Dharma, Artha and Moksha. It is said that with the influence of this Ekadashi, a person can overcome all the struggles of his life.

Vijaya Ekadashi is mentioned in many Puranas. According to the story described in Padma Purana, in Treta Yuga, when Lord Shri Ram reached the seashore in search of Mother Sita, the path to Lanka was not clear. The worry of crossing the sea started troubling him. Then Sage Vashishtha advised him to observe Vijaya Ekadashi fast. Shri Ram followed this fast methodically, due to which he got victory and was successful in getting Vijayshri over Ravana. That is why, this Ekadashi is considered to be the date that brings freedom from all kinds of obstacles and success.
